IN THE HEART OF THE FURNITURE INDUSTRY

The Logistics of Furniture Warehousing

Massood was born in the “Furniture Capital of the World,” with deep roots in connection to High Point Market. This heritage gives us an unmatched advantage in third-party operations and furniture warehousing—especially when it comes to prompt, reliable last mile delivery.
  • Rooted in High Point
  • Nationwide Reach
THE EVENT THAT SHAPES THE INDUSTRY

What is the High Point Market…and Where Is the “Furniture Capital of the World?”

Each spring and fall—typically in April and October—more than 80,000 buyers of home furnishings converge in High Point, North Carolina, to place orders for the products they plan to showcase in their retail stores for the upcoming season. For nine bustling days, this quiet Southern town (with a population that barely exceeds the show’s attendance) transforms into the epicenter of the global furniture industry.

  • Beyond the Showroom Floor
  • The Supply Chain Behind the Market

The Largest Furniture Trade Show in the World

With nearly 20,000 exhibitors and over 20 million square feet of exhibit space, High Point Market stands alone as the largest home furnishings trade show in the world. The Wall Street Journal calls it the “World’s Largest Trade Show,” and the New York Times hails it as the “Largest of Its Kind in the World.”

The influence of this event reaches far beyond the show itself. The decisions made here shape what ends up in American homes for years to come.

NO OTHER MARKET COMPARES

The High Point Experience: Where the Furniture Industry Makes Its Moves

Throughout High Point Market, buyers move from showroom to showroom, exploring the latest offerings from legendary brands and bold new players alike. This is where new trends are launched, relationships are built, and deals are made—fast, energetic, competitive, and unrelenting. For many, it’s the most important week of the year—where timing, presentation, and connection converge to define what’s next. Buyers and sellers aren’t just passing through; they’re setting the pace for the season ahead.

During Furniture Market products are displayed, negotiations unfold, and decisions are made in real time. Behind the scenes, teams are already anticipating what’s next. When the market ends, orders are placed, winners and bestsellers are identified, and manufacturers shift into production mode. This is when logistics becomes mission-critical.

So, What Does This Have to Do With a Family-Owned North Carolina Logistics Company?

Everything.

When the lights dim and the deals are done, someone has to deliver the goods—literally. Retailers await their orders, manufacturers finalize production, and that’s when the right 3PL partner proves its value.

Massood operates strategically located warehousing and fulfillment centers across Archdale and Eden, NC—based in the heart of furniture country.

Over a century ago, most major US furniture manufacturers built their factories within 100 miles of High Point Market. And although many have moved production overseas, they’ve kept their headquarters, showrooms, and distribution hubs right here in the Piedmont Triad.

No matter where your furniture is made—Massood delivers it anywhere it needs to go.

A Family Tradition of Forward Thinking

Massood, MGM Transport, and the Thomasville Brand

Massood began with deep roots in furniture warehousing and distribution, eventually expanding into the retail home furnishings trade, and today stands as a trusted 3PL partner—connecting the worlds of manufacturing, retail, and shipping. What started as a regional operation evolved into a national platform shaped by relationships, reliability, and a deep understanding of how products need to move.

Through every chapter, one thing has remained constant: a belief in doing things the right way. Whether it’s building long-term partnerships, adapting to an evolving industry, or investing in the next generation of leadership, Massood’s forward-thinking mindset has helped the company stay rooted in its values while staying ahead of the curve.

More than sixty years ago, Michael Massood founded MGM Transport, a trucking company dedicated to freight handling and delivery of home furnishings. MGM quickly earned an impeccable reputation for quality and service that still defines the Massood name today. Roughly two decades ago, Edward Massood launched a successful chain of retail home furnishings stores in New Jersey to showcase the Thomasville brand, while continuing to provide executive leadership at MGM.

Then, approximately fifteen years ago, Massood identified a growing need for professional furniture warehousing—including the receiving of overseas shipments from international manufacturers, managing inventory, packaging these goods and delivering them to retailers across the nation. From that vision, Massood Logistics was born: a leader in 3PL supply chain management and a trusted name in specialized furniture warehousing & distribution.

In the Furniture Capital, Logistics Has a Language

Warehousing in the Heart of Furniture Country

Moving large-scale home furnishings is unlike any other form of logistics. It requires space, care, timing, and an understanding of how large, delicate goods move from manufacturer to showroom to final destination. At Massood, this convergence of home furnishings and freight isn’t something we learned—it’s where we started.

Being located within the heart of North Carolina’s historic furniture corridor has always shaped our approach. Proximity to manufacturers, showrooms, and major transportation routes has allowed us to build faster response times and deeper regional insight into the home goods industry. From our earliest days, we’ve worked closely with manufacturers, designers, and retailers to understand the full journey of home furnishings—from the factory floor to the front door.

Our facilities, systems, and processes are designed with home furnishings in mind: That means every step—from intake to delivery—is built around the realities of handling larger, more delicate products. Oversized goods, blanket-wrapped freight, multi-touch handling, and showroom-ready deliveryThese are products that require space, care, and a hands-on approach—from arrival to final presentation. Logistics in this industry isn’t just about moving product. It’s about anticipating challenges, protecting inventory, and keeping promises across thousands of miles.

At Massood, logistics and furniture don’t just coexist—they’re part of the same language.

The Right Fit for a Different Kind of Freight

Logistics That Understands the Furniture Business

Every product has a journey—but home furnishings takes a different path. It doesn’t arrive in standard boxes. It doesn’t fit neatly on pallets. And it doesn’t move through fulfillment like most goods. It requires scale, precision, and a commitment to the customer experience—long before delivery and well beyond the final placement.

At Massood, we’ve built an operations model around the real-world flow of home furnishings. From container to customer, we manage each stage of this process with the nuances of home furnishings in mind: oversized items, specialized handling, multi-piece sets, showroom-ready finishes, and delicate materials that require more than just packaging—they require care.

This isn’t off-the-shelf 3PL. Our warehousing, fulfillment and distribution platform is shaped by decades of experience, informed by the challenges manufacturers and retailers face every day, and customized to meet the needs of today’s leading home brands. It’s a system that’s been tested by volume, refined by experience, and built to scale alongside evolving customer demands. As channels grow and timelines tighten, consistency becomes the advantage.
