Greater Metropolitan Furnishings Assn.’s Dinner and Dance
Three industry leaders, John Garg, Edward Massood and Stuart Carlitz recently received top honors at the annual Greater Metropolitan Furnishings Association’s Dinner and Dance on November 23rd, 2019.
- John Garg, president of Jennifer Furniture (a subsidiary of Morris Holdings) received GMFA’s Retailer of the Year award. He is a 20 year veteran of the furniture industry having worked in sales and management roles for some of the largest retailers. Jennifer Furniture plans to open at least 10 stores each year in the Northeast.
- Edward Massood, president of Massood Logistics and Home Furnishings of New Jersey was presented with the second annual Joseph Cory Leadership award. Edward has deep roots in the furnishings industry beginning with the iconic family business MGM Trucking founded by his father and uncle. Eddie’s vision, focus, commitment and humanity are legendary.
- Stuart Carlitz received GMFA’s Retailer of the Year award. He is the president and creative force behind the growth of Bedding Industries of America, as well as brands Eastman House, Eclipse International, Ernest Hemingway, Van Vorst, and Therapedic of New Jersey.
Over 200 furniture retailers, representatives and industry suppliers were on hand to celebrate the evening that included a memorable cocktail hour, fine dining, dinner and dancing. Ron Cooper, the President of GMFA and master of ceremonies for the evening commented, “The dinner dance was a wonderful end to a successful year for the Greater Metropolitan Furnishings Association. In addition to the benefits and outreach GMFA provides to members, our networking events serve to create a sense of community and collaboration for the furniture industry in the greater New York/ New Jersey/ Connecticut trading area.”
Harris Kirsch, GMFA’s co-president said, “GMFA’s officers and directors would like to thank this year’s honorees and the members of GMFA for their support. I know it’s a cliché, but it’s true that a great time was had by all at this year’s gala.”
